I spent one week at the Donnafugata last summer and had the chance to play on both courses, the Links course designed by Franco Piras, and the Parkland course, designed by Gary Player, venue of the 2011 Europen Tour Sicilian Open.
Links course is truly a link style course that runs along two valleys, with the add of many water hazards and where the wind is always any important factor. Fun course with great views of the sea.
Parkland is considered the main course of the resort. This Gary Player designed course is really different from the Links. Built among olives and carob trees, stone walls typical of this area and strategically placed deep bunkers this course is a challenging 6500 meters par 72.
With this wonderful resort and the new Ventura Golf & Resort by Rocco Forte located near Sciacca, Sicily is becoming a new destination for golf lovers available all year round.
