After having "warmed up" on the North Course, I returned to Torrey Pines the next day to play the South Course, home of the 2008 US Open and yearly Pga Tour Farmers Insurance Open.
With no doubt one of the best and most memorable courses I ever played.
The amazing location, the course layout perfectly designed atop cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the breathtaking views, the immaculate course conditions, the unique atmosphere you can feel while you walk this outstanding course....playing Torrey Pines South Course is an incredible experience for every golfer.
Designed in 1957 by William F. Bell, the course went under a $3.5 millions renovation in 2001 and has been redesigned by Rees Jones making it longer and more difficult.
Greens have been relocated, bunker repositioned and over 550 yard of length have been added.
Today it plays 7680 yds from the tips, with a 78.1/143 rating and it is considered one of the toughest courses on the Pga Tour.
A collection of unique holes on a layout that is really demanding, challenging and not forgiving at all.
But after 18 holes you realize you played on one of the greatest golf courses of the world.
