Tournament Players Club Valencia was the first course that me and the italian Pro Fabio Forlano played on our two days golf itinerary in Southern California. Our trip included also La Purisima GC and Rancho San Marcos GC.

TPC Valencia, a beautiful private club part of the TPC Network, is located among the rolling hills of Santa Clarita Valley, just a few miles north of Los Angeles and not far from Six Flags Magic Mountain.

It is a 7220 yds par 72 layout playing 75.7/142 from the TPC tees. Opened in 2003 and designed by PGA Tour Design Service and by Mark O'Meara, engaged as design consultant, the course feature a challenging layout among scores of oak trees on the rolling and undulating hills along I-5, with great views of the valley from some of the most elevated holes.

Front nines have some interesting holes, such as the 9th, a really long and intimidating Par 3, playing 241 yds from the tips with the green protected by a lake on the left side

I loved the last five holes, a big finish stretch of demanding and beautiful holes.

Two consecutive par 5s, the 607yds 14th and my favorite, the 520 yds 15th with a well protected elevated green. The 16th, a picturesque 189yds par 3 and the 17th a 300yds drivable risk/reward par 4.

And the 18th, a 468yds dogleg right par4 with a long ravine to carry on your tee shot, before reaching the 32,400 square foot spectacular Clubhouse.

As every TPC, even Valencia has been home to important venues, such as the AT&T Champions Classic qualifications on the Champions Tour or the Els for Autism 2012 Challenge.

Great experience playing this course, the day we played it was in incredible shape, just reopened after overseeding.
