This is how Abu Dhabi Golf Club is described on its official web site. And after I experienced the course I can definitely say that what they promise is what you get... ADGC can be really considered and oasis...a spectacular course, parkland style, that feature lush playing surface, seven saltwater lakes, hundreds of palms and ornamentals trees. A challenging layout dominated by the famous impressive Falcon Clubhouse, designed in the shape of a falcon with its wings outstretched.
The course, part of the Abu Dhabi Golf Resort and managed by Troon Golf, is located just 10 minutes from AUH (Abu Dhabi Intl. Airport) and 15 minutes from the city centre.
Designed by Peter Harradine, planting began in 1992, but officially opened in 2000.
Considered by leading sections of the golfing press as "super course", ADGC is a beast the reaches the length of 7600 Yds from the Tournament tees (75.8 / 141) and 6800 Yds (73.3 / 136) from the men tees.
And this course is well known by the best players of the world too!!
Since 2006 is the venue of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, a tournament of the European Tour held every year in January, and one of the largest sporting events in town.
And this is the course where last january both Tiger and Rory missed the cut on their first 2013 appearance.
Of course Abu Dhabi Golf Club is considered one of the best courses of region, featuring state of the art practice facilities, and in the last years it has been awarded of numerous acknowledgments such as:
