Another great Southern California course. Located in Carlsbad, not far from Aviara Golf Club, Legoland (you can hear people having fun there while playing) and just less then a couple of miles from the Pacific Ocean, this Greg Nash creature has been opened in 2007 after more then 18 years from the first project due mainly to environmental circumstances. But it worth the wait and the result is a fantastic golf courses, with challenging holes, great views and lot of fun. Front nines offer some Ocean view holes, while the back nines are more canyon style holes, with some really spectacular holes, like the 11th, Par 4 with an 100ft elevated tee, or the 2 par 5's 15th-16th that play parallel to one another and each requires forced carry. The course's name comes from the five bridges, or crossings, you'll find along the course.
Although the many power lines you'll find along the course, ore the noise coming from the near muni airport of Palomar and from Legoland amusement Park, The Crossings is one my favourite courses I've played around the world. Even Golf Magazine loved this course, ranking it as one of the "Top 10 New Courses You Can Play in 2007".
