Coyote Springs Golf Course, Coyote Springs, Nevada, USA

50 miles North of Las Vegas, between  Route 93 and the Meadow Valley Mountain, in the middle of the desert area, you'll encounter Coyote Springs Golf Course, an outstanding 18 holes Par 72 Jack Nicklaus design course.
This course, named "The Chase" at Coyote Springs, is part of a master-planned community developed in the late 90s but never realized. The plan, that many consider a vision, consists on 16 golf courses, 160,000 homes, and a population of at least 250,000 which is expected to live in this part of remote desert, not far, as somebody said, from Area 51.
But regulatory issues, recession and other issues delayed the construction. And the only thing that has been built in Coyote Springs is a magnificent golf course, which opened in 2008.
No houses, but only a great challenging course which received many accolades and is ranked among the best in the State of Nevada and in the Country.
Coyote Springs 19 acres practice facilities is one of the largest in the Wolrd, with a 100,000 square feet driving range, and of course greens for chipping, pitching and bunker practice.
I played here on 5/23/2012, on a extremely windy day. The course, was in great shape and it has been an unexpected surprise. It features wide fairways and undulating greens, strategically placed bunkers and many many lakes and water hazards and of course great views of the surrounding mountains and desert.
Signature hole is the 170 yds Par 3 17th, but for me the all 18s are can be considered signature holes.
May be one of the best Nicklaus courses I ever played.
