Terme di Saturnia Golf Resort, Tuscany, Italy

Expectations on this new golf course were very high, (Named Best New Golf Course in Italy in 2008 by "Il mondo del Golf " magazine - Golf Digest's italian edition - and ranked 16th in the Top 20 courses of the country by "Top 100 Golf Courses in the World" web site), and after great day of golf I can tell Terme di Saturnia Golf is one of the best courses I played in Italy.
Located just 90 miles north of Rome, in the hearth of Tuscany's Maremma, the course is part of the Terme di Saturnia Spa & Golf resort complex, an area famous mainly for the nearby hot springs.
Designed by Californian architect Ronald Fream of Golfplan, and opened just 5 years ago, the course has a challenging parkland layout set on an undulating terrain with numerous strategically placed  lakes, creeks, ravines and bunkers.
Unfortunately the day I played greens aeration was not completed (damaged by some wild boars), but the rest of the course (fairways, tee boxes, bunkers, practice area) had immaculate conditions. Pace of play was great and it took us (me and my friend Carmine, who posted his best scorecard ever) less then 4 hrs to complete the round. Just a few people along the course.
The small clubhouse, a typical tuscan farmhouse, is still temporary. A new one is under construction near the practice area, even if the temporary one is pretty neat.
If you are planning a vacation in Tuscany, Rome or everywhere nearby, Terme di Saturnia Golf is a must play set on a great location and you won't be disappointed.

Ps

Unfortunately I forgot my camera at home so I had to use my iPhone to take some photos...
