Journey at Pechanga, Temecula, California, Usa

On my last trip to South California I eventually decided to play Journey at Pechanga, a course that has always sparked my curiosity. Ranked among the best public courses in California (#17 on the 2012 Golf Week State by State "Best Courses" and #28 on the 2012 Golf Magazine "Best Public Golf Courses in California" Journey is located on the Pechanga Indian Reservation in Temecula ("the only city in California to still retain its original Indian name") a city centrally located between Los Angeles and San Diego in southwestern Riverside County also known for its wine production with more than 35 wineries.

The course designed by architects Arthur Hills and Steve Forrest has been opened in 2008. It plays 7219 yds from the Championship Tees with a 74.8 CR and 142 SR.

Arriving to the course the first thing that will capture your attention is the outstanding and magnificent clubhouse.

Practice facility is one of the best I ever seen with a short game area, a two level all-turf driving range and two large putting greens.

This scenic golf course is extremely challenging with forced carries, a lake, creeks, oak trees placed strategically on the middle of fairways (sacred old Oak trees considered "untouchable") multi-tiered greens and many incredible elevation changes.

Every hole has its own feature and all are different and demanding.

Considering the course rises and drops about 300 feet over 18 holes you can enjoy incredible vistas from many different locations.

The most amazing views of the Temecula Valley are those from the signature hole Par 4 6th. A 200 yds drop separates the tee boxes from the fairway and a more then precise shot is needed in order to play your second easily to the green.

The course is one of California's finest and, although difficult at times, with a choice of five sets of tees it can be playable by every golfer.
