After reading and hearing a lot about this course I finally had the chance to play it, on one of the hottest day of the year in Orange County!!
Greens were going under aeration, but other than that the course was in perfect conditions.
Black and Gold is a challenging Par 72 6756 yds long (73,1/133) , designed by architect Arthur Hills (
Journey at Pechanga).
Although is not a very long course, the main issue here are the several elevation changes from tee to green you'll find on almost every hole. Elevated greens and strategic placed bunkers make you always adjust your club selection.
The last three holes are the most challenging final holes you'll find on a golf course in the area.
A 216 yds par 3, a 382 yds par 4 with a 35ft high elevated green, and the signature hole 18th, a 535 yds risk reward par 5.
On some of the holes you must be aware of the houses of the Vista del Verde community bordering the golf course!! A signal will advise you on the 14th tee...so just try to go straight!!
Great views of OC and LA County from the highest tee, and even portion of Catalina Island can be seen on the clearest day.
